Réseau Santé – Nouvelle-Écosse in Brief
Réseau Santé – Nouvelle-Écosse brings together key stakeholders from the health care sector and the Francophone community to improve access to French language health services for Nova Scotia’s Acadian and francophone communities.
The Réseau was founded in May 2003 through a networking initiative of the Société Santé en français (SSF), funded by Health Canada.
Members and partners
The composition of the Board of Directors are representatives of each of the following:
- Health care professionals
- Health care institutions
- Health care training and educational institutions
- Decision makers / Government authorities
- Community organizations including youth, women, parents and seniors

- Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness

Mission
Promote access to quality French language services in the field of health and wellness in all the Acadian and francophone regions throughout the province.
Mandate (Provincial and Regional)
- Collaborate with key partners to develop and enhance French-language Health Services.
- Consult the Acadian and francophone community to identify French-language Health Services priorities.
- Collaborate with communities in the area of health promotion and protection initiatives and usage of French language health care services.
- Support the planning, the development and the implementation of French-language Services Plans.
- Work in partnership with the Department of Health and Wellness to improve access to quality health services and wellness in French.
- Collaborate with partners in developing and implementing training, recruitment and retention strategies.
- Maintain and promote the Directory of French Health Care Professionals, in partnership with Department of Health.
- Promote access to French language information and resources.
- Act as lead spokesperson for Nova Scotia’s Acadian and francophone community on health matters and issues.
